Chester Bailey McCoid II was born on July 31st, 1922, at Fort Alcatraz, San Francisco, California, to Chester Bailey McCoid Sr (1897 - 1974) and Florence A. Miller (1889 - 1977). His father was from Massachusetts, while his mother was born in Connecticut. According to records, his biological father was Robert Fessenden Addis (1870 - 1955), who was born in Connecticut. Chester II had two sisters: Lois, born in 1918, and another sister, along with one brother named John, born in 1920. He also had half-siblings, including Helen, Marion, and Gertrude Addis, Ruth McCoid, and one half-brother. Chester McCoid II married Dorothy M. Jamison (1922 - 2019) and theky had two sons, including Chester Baily McCoid III (1946 - 2015) and two daughters. A veteran of the United States Army, Chester was a distinguished veteran who served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. Chester attended Westfield School and Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1941. He had to leave prior to graduation because Middletown's National Guard units were federalized. After retiring from the service, Chester graduated from the University of Maryland, obtaining a B.S. Degree (Summa Cum Laude) in 1975.

Chester's funeral was a graveside service.

Colonel Chester Biley McCoid retired from the United States Army after more than 34 years of active service. A parachutist, he fought in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Army General Staff at the Pentagon and an exchange officer with the United States Navy for four years. During his service, he won The Distinguished Service Medal, The Silver Star, Five Legions of Merit, Five Bronze Stars, and two Purple Hearts. He was also twice decorate by France and eight times by the Republic of Vietnam.

Chester married Dorothy M. Jamison and they had two sons: Chester III and Scott and two daughters, Maureen and Naomi. He was survived by a brother, Dean, and two sisters Ruth and Margaret, and seven grandchildren.
