Chester Joseph Konopacki 1920 - 2014

Chester Joseph Konopacki was born on June 7, 1920 in South River, Middlesex County, New Jersey United States to Witold Konopacki and Malvina (Kosciukiewicz) Konopacki, and had siblings Jane Theresa Layeski, Benjamin Stanley Konopacki, Blanche Loretta Seminara, and Estelle Emily Zavotsky. He married Elizabeth Grace Konopacki in 1945 in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, NJ, and they were married until Elizabeth's death on March 28, 2001 in Edison. He had children Alan Richard Konopacki, Joyce Marie Konopacki, and Diana Marie Pirigyi. Chester Konopacki died at age 94 years old on December 10, 2014 at JFK Medical Center Emergency Room 65 James St, in Edison, Middlesex County, NJ, and was buried on December 16, 2014 in Edison.

In 1920, in the year that Chester Joseph Konopacki was born, on January 1, over 6000 people were arrested and put in prison because they were suspected of being communists. . Many had to be released in a few weeks and only 3 guns were found in their homes. The U.S. Department of Justice "red hunt" netted thousands of "radicals" and suspected "communists" and aliens were deported. But the "hunt" ended after Attorney General Palmer forecast a massive radical uprising on May Day and the day passed without incident.
