Chrispianos (also spelled Chrispi Anos)-born 14 Mar 1782-died 14 Feb 1876.He was the son of Charles Walker and Margaret Peters.He married Frances Peters in 1811- born 1794 in ON New River in Giles County,Virginia-died 7 Apr 1884 in Flat Top,West Virginia.She ws the daughter of John Peters and Frances Simms. Chrispi was only a baby when his family made the migration across the Alleghany Mountains into the New River Valley.He grew up in a section of Montgomery County that became Giles County in 1806.His home was near the present day town of Narrows.As was common in his day,Chrispi was considered illiterate,and he was awakened to his dificiencies after a cattlrman engaged him to assist in driving a heard of cattle to Baltimore.He was determined to get an education and following through in a dedicated manner,he became good with figures and an able speaker who lover to debate.He later became very prominent in the development of Mercer County,which was formed in 1837. On 8 June 1812 the United States declared war on Emgland(War or1812).Chrispi volunteered into the 4th Regiment of Lt.Ralph Lucas'Virginia Malitia at the Giles County Courthouse.The 4th Regiment was a unit of Captain George W,Camps Company of Infantry under the command ofColonel Kooontz of the United States Army.Chrispi was Orderly Sergeant of his company and has been mistakenly refered to as Captain at times.As of 18 Dec 1813 he was with forces encamped on the east side if Bay Inlet,Lynhaven,Virginia.His army pay was $11.00 per month.He participated in several Military engagements,and following six months service,he was discharged 10 Mar 1814 at Ft.Norfolk,Virginia.His allowance for getting home was for twenty days and most likely walking was his mode of travel. 30 January 1816-Giles County Records:Chrispianos Walker owned 200 acres of land-Bearing date 7 November 1804-Land Offiice Exchange Warrant No.1771
