He was born in Germany or Russia in 1891. Came to America at the age of 21 thru Ellis Island. He lived in Manistee and Muskegon, Michigan where he owned and operated a food market. He married Madelyn Hilden of Manistee. Her parents came from Germany. He had a nephew Eugene who was a missionary in South America. I've been told his father and 2 brothers died in a Russian prison camp. According to his death certificate his father's name was Martin Mitzel. I am also told he is somehow related to the Mitzel families in North Dakota. I am looking for any information on my grandfather's family before I die since I have a terminal illness. When he came to America her worked in a copper mine in Houghton, Michigan.
