    November 18, 2007 6:00 pm • Quad-City Times Obituaries(0) Signatures DAVENPORT -- Clara E. Horlas, of Davenport, passed away Friday, November 16, 2007, at Bettendorf Health Care. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at The Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family. Clara Petersen was born March 19, 1921, in Davenport, to John W. and Augusta (Prudot) Petersen. She was united in marriage to William "Bud" Horlas on July 2, 1939, in Wapello, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2001. Earlier in life, Clara had worked as a cook with her husband, who was an engineer, on the Lone Star Paddle Wheel Boat in Davenport. She was a member of Westside Assembly of God Church, Davenport, and enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, doing needlework and cooking for her family. Survivors include two daughters, Helen (John) Babb, Davenport, Augusta (Charles) Hill, Santa Fe, N.M.; two sons, Fred (Judy) Horlas, Davenport, Michael Horlas, Ft. Madison, Iowa; three sisters, Harriet Daughtery, Bettendorf, Shirley La Foon, Davenport, Dorothy Hartley, Davenport; two brothers, Walt Petersen, Davenport, John Petersen, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to give a special thank you to her niece Carol Juekema for all her help. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bud and two sons, William and Eddie Horlas.
