She married Kent Byas in 1960 in Atlanta, Fulton County and they later divorced in 1979 in Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina. She had children Kent Byas III and Robin Kaye (Byas) Dallas. Clara Byas died at age 79 years old on November 22, 2019 in Charleston.
