  • Introduction

    Clarence mothers' family name was 'Westhoff' and there is a very small town in east TX named after his grandfather 'Westhoff'. Clarence preferred to be called Skip. He was a pilot and loved flying. He got quite a bit of flying training at Kelly AFB, TX. He started out in the military. He had two brothers, William and Gene. William died young from complications of appendicitis after the surgery. Gene passed away in the mid 1990s. Clarence married Evelyn Taylor and they had one child, Carolyn Taylor Sartain. Carolyn was married to LTC Marc L. Benjamin Jr.(USAF) (they were later divorced). There were 3 children from that marriage; Bryan Kevin Benjamin, Alison S. Benjamin, and Brooke C. Benjamin. Clarence has two great grandchildren Amanda Jennings and Logan Jennings.

He also flew Bombers over Italy in WWII. Retired as Colonel. Was also the Deputy Base Commander at Hill AFB, UT in or about 1948-1950.
