    Claude Garvey is the son of Claude and Fredericka Garvey. He was born on May 3, 1919 in Manhattan New York and had a younger sister Mildred Garvey. At the age of 21, Claude registered for military service on October 16, 1940, in New York City. A few years later on February 25, 1942, Claude enlisted in the Army at Camp Upton in Yaphank, New York. His enlistment branch was the Army, and he joined the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component.Claude held the rank of Private during his military service. Claude served his country from February 25, 1942, until his discharge on November 28, 1945. He served as a sergeant in the US Army during World War II. After his time in the military, he was a musician in New York City.

Surf Maid Memories
Claude played piano for me at the "Surf Maid" when I first came to NYC in 1975. We made music together for several years while I lived in the Village..... lovely man and a great musician.
