He spent 15 years in prison.

In 1918, at the age of 23 years old, Claude was alive when on November 1, an elevated train on the Brooklyn line of the subway - driven by an inexperienced operator because of a strike - tried to navigate a turn at 30mph. His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.

In 1935, by the time he was 40 years old, on August 14, the Social Security Act was signed into law. The purpose was to "provide federal assistance to those unable to work".
