    According to her official birth certificate, Cleota was born in Springfield, MO on 24 January 1928 to father, John Harrell, age 42 and mother, Leona (Tompkins) Harrell, age 22. Their address on the birth certificate was 1122 E Chestnut Street, Springfield, MO. Leona had other children with John Harrell. The Salina, OK US Census for 1940 shows her as Leona Harrell, divorced. She married Joseph Samuel Swearengin at home in Salina, OK on 14 June 1945. After 1940 Cleota went by the name Cleota Swearengin though her name was probably never legally changed from Harrell. Cleota married Leo Sylvester Bunce who was raised in Quapaw, OK. They were married on 27 May 1949 at the Courthouse in Miami, OK. They raised 7 children to adulthood and remained married until Leo Bunce died in December 2011 in Fairland, OK. Cleota died at age 94 in April 2022.
