Clifford Donald Branton of Cheyenne, Wyoming United States was born on October 6, 1928 at Gypsum, Kansas in Gypsum, Saline County, KS to Thomas Branton and Anne Branton. He had a brother Elmer Branton. He was in a relationship with Ruth Barbara (Francisa) Kunzmann, and had children Larry Romain Branton and Caren Ruth Olsen. Clifford Branton died at age 78 years old on September 3, 2007 at Nephi, Utah.

Although they were in two previous shorts, this was the first to be distributed. Steamboat Willie took advantage of the new technology and was a "talkie" - music was coordinated with the animation.
