    Clyde was born in Ellijay Georgia and lived there his entire life. Clyde married Mattie Ratcliff Tankersley and had four children; Reatha, Cecil, Vertlee and Jean. Their son Cecil Robert Tankersley was drafted and killed in action on Pork Chop Hill in Korea at only 23 years old. Clyde and Mattie was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ellijay Ga where they are buried beside their son. Vertlee died at age two. Reatha married Bernard May and had four children. Reatha passed away in 2018. Jean married James Edward Woodring and had two children. Jean resides in Ellijay Ga.
