    Clyde worked in the oil fields as a driller then as a tool pusher, He worked on various rigs. He loved horses, camping and deer hunting. was in 4/h for a while and agriculture. His family was the loves of his life. Clyde loved to dance and was an excellent dancer. Edna May Thompson Jenkins, Clyde's mother would let us have some friends over once in a while on a Saturday night and we'd dance to the big radio we could ger two country and western stations on it one was Del Rio Texas, and the other was Albuquerque New Mexico. Mother would pop a big pan of popcorn and make some Kool-Aid for us kids. Lots of sweet memories. Clyde's first car was a turquoise an off white 1957 Chevrolet I, his sister went on my first double date in that car to the outdoor movie. Clyde dated Gloria and I with Larry. We sure loved that car.

In 1942, in the year that Clyde R Jenkins was born, due to World War II, automobile production in the United States was stopped on February 1st. A tire rationing program had begun the month before. Detroit - the main hub of car manufacturing - was ordered to free up assembly lines for military production. The president of the Automobile Manufacturers Association said “The automotive industry is in this war all the way". Some dealerships had to close and others expanded their repair shops. The used car market boomed (as did a black market in used cars).
