  • Introduction

    I knew her from Virginia Intermont College. She personally invited me, as she saw me at a S.E.R.B.A. festival in Jacksonville, FL. She had a sense of what "great" was, and she wanted to bring all her dancers with her- to their best. Sadly, I was with her just one year - '83-'84, the year she was let go as artistic director of the ballet department. To throw away 27 years of experience on the technicality of not having a masters degree: in ballet! But Dean Generec (sp) followed thru, so I never returned to Bristol, Virginia. Her legacy is quiet, deep, and a testament to doing what you love as the ultimate goal. Thanks, Hardy!

    Artistic Director of both the Ballet Department at Virginia Intermont College, and Bristol Ballet. One of only 10 Regional Ballet Artistic Directors in the country (two per region, South-Eastern or S.E.R.B.A.).

    So many S.E.R.B.A. festivals, like Charleston, S.C. in '84. Bristol ballet had a dance chosen for performance at the festival, quite an honor next to Louisville Ballet and company.
