Cynthia Balkwill was born in Devon on January 12, 1924, and was a middle child. She had an older brother known as Rex Balkwill, and a younger sister (Hazel). Cynthia was a WREN and was a war bride, marrying Frederick John Chudley in 1944. She had two daughters Susan Heather, and Glynis-Anne. Cynthia was a world traveler. She lived in Trinidad, East Africa, Nepal and Papua New Guinea, finally moving back in Crapstone, Devon when my father, Jack Chudley retired. She truly loved Devon, but ended up living in the San Francisco Bay Area, California where her youngest daughter (me!) lived. Cynthia was a devoted grandmother having eight British grandchildren, and four American grand children.
