During World War II, Dal served in the United States Army from March 1944 through March 1946. Dal Jenkins tied the knot with Dorthy E. Jenkins, who was born in 1915. Together they had a daughter named Jean.

He lived in Canton until he was 21, moving to Swarthmore, Pennsylvania at that time. Later, he lived in Chester, Camp Hill, and Cumberland, all in Pennsylvania, until he moved to Rahway, New Jersey when he was 38. Just before he died, he moved to Dade County, Florida.
