Dale Owen Crockett of Layton, Davis County, Utah was born on June 7, 1938 to Owen H Crockett and Mamie Luella (Morgan) Crockett. He had a brother Don Crockett. He married Margaret Joan Child Crockett and they later divorced. He had children Danny Dale Crockett, Debbie (Crockett) Ballard, and Carol Crockett. Dale Crockett died at age 72 years old on April 18, 2011.

In 1938, in the year that Dale Owen Crockett was born, on June 25th (a Saturday) the Fair Labor Standards Act was signed into law by President Roosevelt (along with 120 other bills). The Act banned oppressive child labor, set the minimum hourly wage at 25 cents, and established the maximum workweek at 44 hours. It faced a lot of opposition and in fighting for it, Roosevelt said "Do not let any calamity-howling executive with an income of $1,000 a day, ...tell you...that a wage of $11 a week is going to have a disastrous effect on all American industry."

In 1947, when he was only 9 years old, on April 15th, Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers, playing first base. He was the first black man to play in the Major Leagues. Since the 1880's, professional baseball had been segregated and blacks played in the "Negro leagues". He went on to play for 10 years.
