Damaris Louise (Saddler) Scott Brinkman was born to James Harry Saddler (1898 - 1974) and Mary Gluin (1898 - 1990). Her father was born in Idaho and her mother was born in Iowa. Damaris had two sisters, one of whom was Grace Jean Saddler (1927 - 1991). Damaris (Saddler) Scott married Kenneth Edris Brinkman (1910 - 1958) on September 5, 1944 in Spokane, Washington and they had four children, three sons, Kenneth, James, and Ronnie, and a daughter named Joanne Kaye Brinkman (1937 - 1991).

Damaris was Caucasian with English heritage on her paternal line. Her paternal great-grandfather was born in Liverpool, England in 1854.

Born in the state of Washington, Damaris lived in Bonners Ferry, Idaho when she was 11 years old. At age 16, she moved to Leavenworth, Washington and moved to Bellingham, Washington when she was 20. At age 21, she lived in West Fork and Wenatchee, Washington and married at 25 in Spokane, Washington. She remained in Spokane until her 80s, when she moved to Gresham, Oregon, where she died in 2008.
