Dan H. Bucsit is the brother of Nicolas Bucsit and Manuel H. Bucsit. Nicolas was a half brother and the eldest and Manuel the younger. Nicolas arrived in the United States around the early 20's before his siblings and sent for them later. When they arrived in the U.S. he influenced them into strawberry farming on Bainbridge Island as he partnered with a Japanese family by the last name of Mori.
Dan and Manuel supplemented their farming income by working at Todd Shipyard in Seattle, Washington on Harbor Island.
Dan had five children with his first wife Nancy Daniels Bucsit from Canada. She was Salish Native American from British Columbia, Canada. The children are listed starting with the eldest: Diana B. Castilleja, Jean B. Cabunoc, Daniella B. Gonzaga, Elizabeth B. Domondon and Dan D. Bucsit, Jr. Dan had a daughter, Fatima Wallin, with his second wife, Mila Rebellido Bucsit, also from the Philippines.
