Basics on a Dan Scripka’s life.
He was born in Romania. His parents moved here when he was two. He grew up in Detroit until the age of 13. As an only child of Gregory and Lena Scripka from Romania, they then moved to a farm in the New Baltimore, Mi area on Frost rd. He stayed in the area throughout his teens. He moved to Warren, (Baseline) Michigan and worked as an ice man delivering ice to families and businesses. He met and married Virginia Neubauer in 1933 at Ascension Catholic Church. They had 4 children. Two boys and two girls. He worked fit Tip Top Bread and Vita Boy potato chips as a deliverer mostly in Detroit. He later went into business for himself with Vita Boy potato chips in the Mr Clemens and Port Huron areas. After that he built a business in selling travel trailers. In his early 60’s he went to work for Vik Wertz beer distributors as a supervisor of sales. Virginia died when he was 68 and he then retired. At age 83 he remarried to Lena. They only had 8 years together when he died at age 91.
