  • Obituary

    A memorial service will be at noon Saturday, July 8, 2000, in North Plains Christian Church for Daniel F. "Dan" Kisor, who died June 30 at age 29 from injuries suffered in a car accident the previous day. Mr. Kisor was born Feb. 6, 1971, in Portland and grew up in Hillsboro, graduating from Glencoe High School in 1990. He was a stonemason and had worked for Elite Granite & Marble in Hillsboro. He lived in Gaston from 1995 until returning to Hillsboro. Survivors include his parents, Floyd and Gayle; and brother, David. Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to MADD Washington County, 9725 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, Beaverton, OR 97005. Published 7 Jul 2000 in The Oregonian

In 1971, in the year that Daniel Floyd Kisor was born, in March, Congress passed the Twenty-sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which lowered the voting age to 18 (from 21). It was a response to the criticism that men could fight at 18, but not vote for the policies and politicians who sent them to war. The states quickly ratified the Amendment and it was signed into law on July 1st by President Richard Nixon.

In 1980, he was only 9 years old when on December 8th, ex-Beatle John Lennon was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman in front of his home - the Dakota - in New York City. Chapman was found guilty of murder and still remains in jail.
