Daniel Hanley 1882 - 1976

Daniel Hanley was born in 1882 to Patrick Hanley and Mary (Gallagher) Hanley, and had siblings Michael Hanley, John Hanley, Edward Hanley, Patrick Hanley, William Hanley, Helen Nellie (Hanley) Jones, Mary Hanley, and Margaret (Hanley) Walsh. He married Margaret Aileen (Harrington) Hanley, and had a child Patricia Mary Hanley. Daniel Hanley died at age 94 years old in 1976, and was buried at Kew Cemetery.

In 1882, in the year that Daniel Hanley was born, on January 5th, writer and lawyer Charles J. Guiteau was found guilty of the assassination of President Garfield. Guiteau was "offended" because his job applications had been rejected by Garfield's government. He was sentenced to death -although his lawyer plead insanity - and hanged five months later, on June 30th.

In 1893, he was merely 11 years old when on February 1st, Thomas Edison's motion picture studio on his laboratory grounds in West Orange New Jersey was completed. The studio was called "Black Maria" and the first movie made and viewed in it was of 3 people pretending to be blacksmiths.
