    Daniel Myron Parker Sr., 66 SCARBOROUGH -- Daniel Myron Parker Sr., 66, of 8 North St. #6, Scarborough, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2008, at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Danny is survived by his devoted wife Mary, of 37 years; daughter Angela, son Danny Jr., all of Scarborough; and his identical twin brother, Stanley B. Parker and wife Charlotte L. Parker of Atlanta, Ga. Danny was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Frances Parker of Bellaire, Fla. Danny was born with Arthorgryposis Multiplex Congenita. He worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the handicapped in the state of Maine. He was appointed by the governor of Maine to the Kim Wallace Adaptive Equipment Loan Program for over thirteen years. He helped to assist other handicapped people to improve their quality of life. He worked with Storyland in Glenn, N.H., and made improvements for all people with disabilities. He was a member of the Gorham Lion's Club and he also volunteered with the Gorham Police Dept., and Westbrook Police Dept. He enjoyed 15 years of umpiring little league. His love for people took him to job he loved doing. Many people will remember him as the door greeter for the Scarborough Wal-Mart. He laughed loud, he was very caring, he enjoyed being with people, and he loved and lived life to the fullest. Even in his final days he kept up his fabulous sense of humor. He still flirted with the nurses, and touched every body that came in contact with him. Relatives and friends are invited to the home of Chuck and Kristene Miller on the Weeks Road in Gorham on Sunday, May 18th between 1 and 4 p.m. for refreshments and to share memories. Arrangements are under the guidance of Independent Death Care, 471 Deering Avenue, Portland. In 1942, in the year that Daniel M Parker was born, on February 19th, President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066. This authorized the Secretary of War to "prescribe certain areas as military zones." On March 21st, he signed Public Law 503 which was approved after an hour discussion in the Senate and 30 minutes in the House. The Law provided for enforcement of his Executive Order. This cleared the way for approximately 120,000 men, women, and children of Japanese ancestry to be evicted from the West Coast and to be held in concentration camps and other confinement sites across the country. In Hawaii, a few thousand were detained. German and Italian Americans in the U.S. were also confined.

In 1953, he was only 11 years old when actress and comedian Lucille Ball gave birth to Desi Arnaz, Jr on January 19th. On the same day on "I Love Lucy", the fictional Little Ricky was born as well. Baby Desi graced the cover of the first TV Guide magazine with a headline that read ""Lucy's $50,000,000 baby" - because the commercial revenue from his birth was expected to be that amount.
