    David A. Griffioen, aged 41, of Indianapolis, IN, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 16, 2005, at his home in Indianapolis. David was the dearly loved son of Rev. Donald Griffioen and his wife Martheen and was a brother to Thomas J. (Sherri) Griffioen and Cheryl F. (Trent) Chambliss. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. David was a member of the Madison Square Christian Reformed Church where he professed his faith in Jesus Christ as his only comfort in life and death. He was a graduate of Oakdale Christian School, attended one year at Grand Rapids Christian High, and graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy. David was an exceptionally bright student who graduated from Calvin College, Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, and all but dissertation for a doctorate in musicology at the University of Indiana. As a violinist, David played in the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony, First Chair in the Calvin College Orchestra, the Grand Rapids Symphony for four years, and in many churches in Grand Rapids and several other cities. The funeral service will be held at the Sherman Street Christian Reformed Church on Thursday with Rev. David Kromminga officiating. The family will be at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel to greet friends and relatives Tuesday and Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvin College, Bethany Christian Services, or the Grand Rapids Symphony. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks for prayers and many expressions of kindness in this time of need. -Grand Rapids Press, The (MI) - Monday, April 18, 2005
