David Charles Chiron of Heidelberg, City of Banyule County, VIC Australia was born on December 20, 1913 in Hawthorn, City of Boroondara County to Eugene Adolphus Charles Chiron and Isabel Ellen (Battersby) Chiron. He had siblings Eugine Isabel Chiron, Thomas Victor Chiron, Jack Clarence Chiron, Alfred Eugene Chiron, and Vincent Conrad Chiron. David Chiron married Nellie Agnes Rawson in 1940, and died at age 59 years old in 1972 in Heidelberg, City of Banyule County.

In 1913, in the year that David Charles Chiron was born, the Philippine–American War ended for good in June. While the official end of the war was in 1902, fighting continued for several years. An estimated 200,000 to 250,000 total Filipino civilians died and although the U.S. viewed its role as a colonial presence as one of preparing the Philippines for independence, American colonization drastically changed the character off the culture. The Catholic Church was no longer the state religion and English became the primary language of the government.

In 1948, when he was 35 years old, on January 30th, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in New Delhi by a member of a Hindu nationalist party who thought that Gandhi was too accommodating to Muslims. The man, Nathuram Godse, shot Gandhi 3 times. He died immediately. The shooter was tried, convicted, and hung in November 1949.
