David Fleming Mewha of Ballarat, City of Ballarat County, VIC Australia was born in 1872 in Ballarat to Mary Ann Fleming Mewha and James Johnston Mewha. He had siblings Martha Jane Kelsey Mewha, Hugh Johnstone Mewha, Rachel Margaret Johnston Mewha, Rachael Mawha, Margaret Johnston Mewha, James Mewha, Samuel Mewha, and Joseph Stuart Mewha. He married Selina Carol (Leader) Mewha, and had children Edward James Mewha and Linda Mary Ann Mewha. David Mewha died at age 54 years old in 1926 in Prahran, City of Stonnington County.

In 1872, in the year that David Fleming Mewha was born, on December 4th, the empty American ship Mary Celeste was found in the Atlantic Ocean. Still seaworthy, under partial sail, and with one lifeboat missing, what happened on her is still a mystery. Her cargo and provisions were intact and she was used as a cargo vessel for another 12 years but the people onboard were never seen again

In 1881, at the age of just 9 years old, David was alive when on October 26th, the "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" happened in Tombstone, Arizona. The gunfight lasted only 30 seconds - the Earps and Doc Holliday on one side and the "Cowboys" on the other side. The McLaury brothers and Billy Clanton of the Cowboys were killed. Two of the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday were wounded.
