    I wish I could share memories of him. I really wish I could. He was- is my popouli. I met him as a baby, before I would be able to remember anything. But I can gather enough about him. He was a man of the people, always the life of the party. He had many friends. He did whatever he could to support his family. And he looked like Jesus. I will miss him, not because he imparted any memories. But because he never will. Rest in Peace, Grandfather.

In 1944, in the year that David Hronis was born, on June 22nd, the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, called the G.I. Bill, was signed into law, pushed through by the veteran's organizations. Benefits provided for veterans to return to school (high school, vocational school, or college), obtain low interest home mortgages and low interest business loans, and (if needed) one year of unemployment insurance. Since most returning vets immediately found work, less than 20% of the unemployment benefits were distributed.
