    David Sylvester Windsor was born on November 23, 1915 in Mount Vernon, Virginia to parents David Richard Windsor (1891-1956) and Eunice Mary Tyler (1896-1965). He had a sister named Irma Elizabeth Windsor (1896-1995). David spent his childhood and early adult years in Mount Vernon, Fairfax County, Virginia. At the age of 24, David registered for the Selective Service on October 16, 1940 in Alexandria, Fairfax, Virginia. A few years later, on February 19, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army at Camp Lee, Virginia as a Private. David was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA and was part of the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component sourced from Civil Life. He went on to serve in the United States Army during World War II. David lived a long life, passing away on January 25, 1993 at the age of 77.
