He had siblings Margaret Mary Halladay Crosbie, Mary Jane Crosbie, Alex William Crosbie, William Alexander Crosbie, Alex William Crosbie, James Crosbie, Mary Jane Bugge, and Albert John Crosbie. He was in a relationship with Elizabeth (McCallum) Crosbie, and had children Lillian Elizabeth (Crosbie ) Sands and Ethel Eglantine (Crosbie) Waite. David Crosbie died at age 42 years old on April 4, 1890 in Hawthorn, Victoria County Australia, and was buried at Melbourne General Cemetery College Cres, in Parkville, City of Melbourne County, VIC.

He had siblings including Jane (born 1848) and William Crosbie (born 1850). He grew up in Scotland, and in 1855 immigrated to Australia where he would live in Melbourne, Australia. On April 26, 1879 he married Elizabeth McCallum (born 1857) and together they had 4 children; Elizabeth (born 1857), Ethel Eglantine (born 1880), David Golding (1882), Elise Mary (born 1884) and Lillian Elizabeth (1885-1966). Elizabeth and David separated in 1880. David Wilson Crosbie passed away on April 4, 1890 in Hawthorn, Victoria County, Australia.
