    Dean D'Ambola was born to Robert A. "Bob" and Anna D'Ambola (1936 - 2013). His father was born in New Jersey. Dean had four siblings: three brothers and one sister, Robert, Alfonse, Richard, and Anne. Dean, an acknowledged sports star in high school and junior college, died at the young age of 23 after being diagnosed with and treated for acute leukemia. See Dean Dambola: Obituary. The Dean D'Ambola Athletic Field, a baseball field in East Hanover, Morris County, New Jersey was built near to Hanover Park High School and the fire station, East Hanover Volunteer Fire Department.

    DEAN D'AMBOLA, 23, FORMER STAR ATHLETE East Hanover - Dean D'Ambola died Friday at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 23. He was born in Newark and lived in Whippany for nine years before moving to East Hanover 14 years ago. Mr. D'Ambola was a quality control inspector for Hoffmann-La Roche Pharmaceuticals in Nutley for the past five months. He was a 1987 graduate of Hanover Park High School and attended County College of Morris. He was an all-area and all-county baseball player for Hanover Park High School and was a Daily Record Athlete of the Week. He also played baseball for the County College team. He is survived by his parents, Robert Sr. and Anna D'Ambola; three brothers, Robert Jr., Alfonse, and Richard; a sister, Anne De Luca; three nephews, a niece; and his fiancée, Dina Rankin. Arrangements are by the Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Roads, Whippany. - Daily Record (Morristown, New Jersey) Sunday, August 23, 1992 on page 23.
