This is according to Seed of Eliphalet Quimby written by the late Mary Virginia Nevin in Downey, CA 1995. Delia B. born was married to Albert Melvin West and moved from Bucksport, Maine to the Meadoe section of Stockton Springs to live on her husband's family farm. She was very active with the Sandy Point Congregational Church. She was an avid quilt maker and always had a few extras made in case a local family was in need of such items. She would also make quilts for the church ladies aid group. Delia was very involved in the local Eastern Star, holding all the local offices over the years. For a few years, she worked at a potato drying plant in Winterport and later at the five and ten cent store in Belfast. Delia's daughter, Phyliss, remembers her mother also hand-making three to four hundred Christmas Cards every year. Another memory of Phyliss' was that of the Depression years. Phyliss said, "Growing up on a farm, we were not as affected by the recession as others were. For maybe four years my mother would have between fourteen and twenty one extra people, many families at the table for breakfast, lunch and dinner."
