Charles (Charlie) Coville was his father and Laverne Davis was his mother. Charlie was a French Canadian who migrated down to the United States from Canada. Laverne was from McMinnville, Oregon where her parents settled after traveling the Oregon Trail.
Nationality & Locations

Delmar was born in San Diego, California March 24,1926. His father, Charlie, was a traveling salesman for Singer Sewing Machines. Delmar traveled with his parents and older brother, LeRoy Coville' throughout New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California during the later 1920's while his father did the sales. They all eventually settled back in Turner Oregon.
Religious Beliefs

He did attend church in Corvallis. I'm not sure what his faith was. His mother was Lutheran so I would imagine he was brought up in that faith.
Military Service

Yes, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII during the latter part of the war against Germany (1944). He served on the U.S.S. Hollis, DE-794, a Buckley-class, destroyer escort. He saw action during Operation Anvil/Dragoon (Aug 15 - Sept 24, 1944). Operation Anvil/Dragoon was the first strike on Southern France to break the German hold on the French. The operation was considered the 2nd D-Day. He was wounded during the action and after recovery, served on the U.S.S. Norris, DD-859, a Gearing Class Destroyer. His was a Third Class Petty Officer when honorably discharged May 22,1946.
Professional Career

He was an inventor and an electrician. In 1953, he invented and patented a hearing aid system for the hearing impaired called, "The Miracle Ear". He also invented a rotary switch but decided to give it away rather than have it patented. He gave the device to Cutler Hammer and they gave him some stock in the company and a plaque thanking him for the contribution. They make those switches to this day.
Personal Life & Family

When he was in his ate twenties, he started a boys club in Turner for the young people. He belonged to both the Elks and The Eagles. He was always trying to help young people all his life.

Obituary

Delmar was my father and he was the most giving person I knew. He was always trying to help people throughout his life. He loved to ride horses, collect guns, hunt deer and fish for Trout and Salmon. He also loved whisky and coke, A little nippy he always called it. The outdoors was his church and he always referred to Oregon as, "Gods Country". He is survived by myself, Morris L. Coville, his grandson, Dennis Coville. Unfortunately, he did not live long enough to see his four, Great Grandchildren Aeson, Abrams, Brennon and Niles. May you rest in Peace Pop.
