  • Introduction

DelRoy was born to LeRroy James Moosman and Guelda Rose Bucklar in Circleville, Piute, Utah on May 29 1936 and passed away on May 28 2001 in Spring City Utah at the home of his oldest daughter Christina Ann Moosman Johnson's home. DelRoy fought a battle of Diabetes and Heart disease 💔 for many years. John had 5 open heart surgeries and at that time it was not common to live thru 2 of them. John married Virginia Elmer from Cannonville Utah on Halloween. Together they had and raised 6 children. Christina Ann, Arnold Dale, Foster Willis, Cecil Dale, Joy Lynn and Steven LeRoy Moosman. Most of their lives growing up they resided in Spring City Utah until approx 1990 they bought a little cafe in Loa, Utah and moved there. In 1991 they sold it to their daughter Chris and retired after his last open heart surgery. They then bought a home in Fremont Utah, then Tropic and then after John passed Virginia bought two more homes in Fremont. Chris, Cecil and Joy now live in the three Fremont homes. John worked very very hard and had the strongest hands of any man. He was a big man with a very loud voice. John worked most of his life at the Moroni Processing Plant in the Gut house. He was a boss out there for many years. He had many great friends there. To name a few Pete Hafen, Jim Jacobsen and LeRoy Young along with so many more. His boys worked there as well as his wife and daughter Chris and son in law Robert Johnson. We spent many many nights listening to them all play cards and talk about their life at the Turkey Plant. John and Virginia gained a huge family from the Turkey Plant. They was Ma and Pa to half of Sanpete County. John loved his little farm and Garden at home as well. As kids we witness many chickens and Turkeys hang from our swing set as grandpa cut off their heads and dropped them. They ran around without heads until they fell dead. Then he gathered them up and took them inside to prepare them to cook. Their home was heated with a wood burning cook stove. They had no hot water heater and to bath we had to warm big pans of water to fill the tub. It was always cold because they had a huge porcelain tub to fill. You really hurried to bath. They always had a bucket for left overs to put slop in for pigs. He had the coolest chicken coop and we loved to gather eggs. Grandpa always had a huge hey stack and huge green garden. John was a real green thumb. John always had roses and could grow any sort of rose bush from a twig. John LOVED his grandkids. His grandkids was his life. He had a sense of humor and was a big prankster. He loved my grandma and never stopped letting her know it. John also loved to gamble and took many many trips to mesquite Nv. His favorite machine was the wild Cherry. John was a spiritual man as well. He was a member of the LDS church and held the priesthood for many years as well. John was a man of service. He left home at a very young age and joined the Marines until he could get back home to my grandma. He really went thru a lot to get to her and once he did he made sure they wouldn't have to do it again. He married her and took her with him all the rest of his days. He loved her more than life. John was a man that cherished his name and you did not tarnish the Moosman name in our family without punishment. John had left a mark on each and every one of his grandchildren in a big way. He is dearly missed. John lost both of his parents in the late 1990s and a short ten years later after they moved to Tropic John fell ill. Their oldest granddaughter Misty went to Tropic to get them and brought them home to Spring City. With John's wheelchair they was unable to stay in Mistys home. Chris's home was next door so instead they ended up taking him there so Misty could help care for him and then Chris was also there. Most all of his children, grandchildren along with his beautiful wife Virginia cared for him until his Kidneys finally failed and he passed away the day before his 65 birthday May 28 2001. We always thought that heart of his would be the reason for loosing him but with that pasemaker his heart beat was strong. Due to Diabetes though his Kidneys had decided they had enough. We lost a true fighter and our very own Hero that day. Written by John's oldest granddaughter Misty Dawn Johnson Tidwell April 2020.
