Dennis Waylon Lindsey was born to Walter Mack Lindsey (1914 - 1980) and Mamie Fillingim (1910 - 1996) although according to family records, his biological parents were John Hilliard Lindsey (1904 - 1987) and Laurice Lodean Bryant (1914 - 2002). He had eight siblings: three sisters and five brothers and three half-siblings, one sister and two brothers. Dennis Lindsey married in June of 1957 in Mobile, Alabama. They had one son, Dennis Waylon Lindsey Jr. (1959 - 1991).
