He had siblings Antonia Salazu Valenzuela, Benita Salazu, Guadalupe Salazu, and Jose Isidro Salazu Valenzuela. He married Guadalupe Salazu (Castañon), and had children Rodolfo Salazu, Celia Salazu, Dionicio Salazu Castañon, Maria Del Rayo Salazu, Marcos A. Salazu, Jose Alberto Salazu Castañon, Elsa (Salazu) Lopez, Luis M. Salazu, Roberto Salazu, Ruben Salazu, and Raul Salazu. Dionicio Salazu died at age 77 years old in October 2004 at Terrell, TX, USA.
