He enlisted in the military on February 23, 1945, in Rochester, New York and was part of the Reserves in the Air Force. He was given the rank of Private, and his service number was 12241681. Dominic Chilbert was discharged from the military on July 31, 1972. While serving in the military, he married Virginia A Uldine Vogt (1925–2021) on May 6, 1950 in Geneva, Seneca, New York, USA. The couple had six children together.
