Dominic Robert Scalese's father was Antonio Scalese and his mother was Carmela Caloggero. Both had been born in Italy. When Dominic was 6, he was living with his parents Antonio, 35, and Carmela, 27, in Cambridge. Also in the household were siblings Vincent, 8, Ferdinando, 7, Anthony, an infant, and boarder Ralph Marzzei, 22. Dad was a laborer in a rubber factory and boarder Ralph was a porter in a hotel. When he was 18, Dominic was still living in Cambridge and working at Charlestown Navy Yard-Charlestown, Massachusetts. His next of kin was his father, Anthony, who lived at the same address. Dominic was 5 feet, 10.5 inches tall, weighed 180 pounds, had brown eyes, brown hair. and a "ruddy" complexion. Dominic was a member of the Cambridge Police Department. He was a veteran of World War II.
