    Dominick Calvano was born in 1902 to parents Nascenzio Calvano and Guiseppina Danessa. He had siblings Antonetta Calvano (1897-1990), Alborico Calvano (1908-1986), William O. Calvano (1910-1996), Marie Calvano Cellemme (1913-1998), Annunziata lolanda Calvano (1913-), and Viola N Calvano (1917-). He was born in Montenegro, Italy and immigrated to the US as a young boy. He resided in Fall River, Massachusetts In 1922, he married Jennie Calvano in Fall River, Massachusetts. They had a daughter together, Irene Calvano (born 1925) and then later divorced in October of 1929. After his divorce, he moved to Norwalk, Fairfield, Connecticut in the 1930's. Dominick was also in a relationship with Georgina Calvano (1917-2008) and they had two children together; a son and a daughter. Dominick Calvano passed away on August 13, 1977 at the age of 75 in El Paso, Texas.

They eventually got a 10% raise and their workday was reduced from 10 hours to 9. Because winter was coming and most people at the time heated their homes with coal, President Teddy Roosevelt arbitrated between the owners and the workers - the first time that the Federal government arbitrated in a strike.
