  • Obituary

Mrs. Myrel Hardin received word from the War Department Tuesday, telling of the death of her son, Pvt. Don Hardin, 25, which occurred July 14, somewhere in France. The message did not give the details of the young man's passing. He had been in the Signal Corps for about three years, and for the past two years had been in England and France. The last letter his mother had received from him was written from Nuermberg, Germany, and he was with the Third Army. While in England he was married to Miss Joyce Harvey, about five months ago, and she was due to sail for the States within a short time. Other survivors are his mother and one brother, Campbell Hardin, of this city; a brother, Pvt. Billy Hardin of Asheville, North Carolina, and a sister, Miss Nihla Hardin of Cincinnati, Ohio. Pvt. Hardin was reared in the Rio Grande Valley, and before his enlistment, was employed on a ranch. He moved to Kerrville a short time before entering the Army. - Kerrville Mountain Sun (Kerrville, Texas) on Thursday, July 26, 1945.
