    Don Frederick Hamm was born to Charles Frank Hamm (1877 - 1930) and Helen Weir Young (1887 - 195). He had siblings Glenn Spencer, Kenneth G., George, and Helen Marie Hamm. A veteran of World War II, Don served as a Navigator on a B-17 in the 533rd Squadron, 381st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force in England in 1943. Don Hamm married Helen Lucille Todd (1924 - 1971) on June 30, 1946, and they had five children.     The following obituary appeared in The Sacramento Bee (Sacramento California) on Saturday, August 31, 1996, page 33: Hamm, Don F. Passed away on August 27, 1996 at his home in Rancho Cordova, at age 75. Born January 11, 1921 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, he attended Pasadena Junior College in California, the American Art Institute in Chicago and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Education. During World War II, he served as a Navigator on a B-17 in the 533rd Squadron, 381st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force in England in 1943. He moved to California in 1955 and started a career in Advertising which lasted over 30 years. He retired in 1988 from his job as Advertising and Sales Promotion Manager for Sacramento-based company WEMCO, where he worked for 15 years. During his retirement he became involved with a local senior artists guild, painting watercolors. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, son Richard Hamm of San Jose, daughter Gail French and son Kenneth (Randy) Hamm, both of Denver, Colorado; son Kevin Hamm of Boulder Creek, CA; daughters Laurel Hamm, stepsons Kevin and Scott Cowley, stepdaughter Pam Grijalva, all of Sacramento. He is also survived by brothers Kenneth and Governor Hamm, and sister Helen Hamm Johnson, all of Rock Springs, WY. He leaves 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Family and friends will remember him as a man of compassion, intelligence, patience, kindness and above all an ever-present sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Society of America.
