He married Elsie Nell (Smith) Odom in 1945, and had children Lance Darnell Odom, Mark Duane Odom, Sue Carroll (Odom) Cordova, Connie Lu (Odom) Miller, Cathy Ann (Odom) Souders, and Mary (Odom) Klicke. Donald Odom died at age 75 years old on September 15, 1998 in Vancouver, Clark Co County, WA, and was buried in September 1998 at Declo Cemetery in Declo, Cassia Co County, ID.

Owned by a bootlegger and gangster, it was a 700 seat speakeasy that catered to a "white only" clientele.
