Don in Australian Army uniform
My father when he first joined the Army at about 18 years old. He lived by himself on his cherry and plum orchard so joined the Light Horse Brigade in Gippsland part time before the war (had to have his own horse) then when WWII started transferred to the 2/8 Armoured Regiment in 1941 and served in New Guinea until it disbanded in 1943. He then transferred to the 42nd Australian Landing Craft (ALC) Company and finally transferred to the 94th Light Aid Detachment (LAD) before returning home.
