His mother Pearl was born on October 21, 1900 in Knox Starke, Indiana and grew up in Penn, Saint Joseph, Indiana. She married Lawrence on May 22, 1918 in St Joseph, Berrien, Michigan, USA and the couple resided in Mishawaka, St Joseph, Indiana. She passed away on June 30, 1988 in Galien, Berrien, MI. His father Lawrence was born on April 10, 1899 in South Bend, Indiana, USA and grew up there. After marrying Pearl, they lived in Mishawaka, St Joseph, Indiana and he worked in a Pully Factory and later was a truck driver in the construction industry. He passed away on July 19, 1974 in Galien, Berrien, Michigan, United States of America.

After they separated, he then married Maggie Christeen Hohnke on August 23, 1980 in New Carlisle, St Joseph, Indiana, USA. Donald married one more time to Julia Agnes Avdeuk on April 27, 1994 when he was 71 years old.
