Services today for Donald Triebel Sr.
RED HOOK -- Donald Franklin Triebel Sr., 74, of Red Hook, died June 11, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Triebel was a mechanic. For over 50 years he owned and operated Triebel's Garage, Inc. in Red Hook, a business founded by his grandfather in 1917. He was also the founder of the Red Hook Mobile Home Park, and the owner/operator of the Northern Dutchess Mobile Home Park.
Mr. Triebel was a member of United Methodist Church of Red Hook, a Life Member of both the Red Hook Post # 7765 VFW and the Harris Smith Post #524 American Legion in Tivoli.
He was also a Charter Member and past president of the Red Hook Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the NY Manufactured Houseing Association, and the NARSA Radiator Association. Mr. Triebel was also a member of the Red Hook Businessmen's Association for many years. He was also active with the Boy Scouts for many years.
A veteran of the US Navy, Mr. Triebel served during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Born in Poughkeepsie on Aug. 14, 1926, he was the son of William and Dorothy Simmons Triebel.
He graduated from Red Hook High School in 1947, and from the Progressive School of Photography in New Haven, Conn. in 1951.
On Aug. 5, 1989 at Red Hook, Mr. Triebel married Althea Hansen.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald F. (Kathy) Triebel Jr., of Red Hook, and William O. (Geraldine) Triebel, of Staatsburg; two step-daughters, Deborah Colgrave, of Taghkanic and Marcelle Zitz of Milan; a step-son, Henry Schott, Jr. of Poughquag; two brothers, William L. Triebel of Georgetown, Texas and Charles F. Triebel of Salem, Va.; two sisters, Audrey Zindler of Wappingers Falls and Elma Cooper of Richmond, Va.; two grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, at Burnett, Rockefeller & Hand Funeral Home, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook. The Rev. Paul R. Gingrich will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
Arrangements are by Kenneth G. Giek, Burnett, Rockefeller & Hand Funeral Home, Red Hook.
Memorial donations may be made in Donald's memory to the United Methodist Church of Red Hook, Church St., Red Hook, NY 12571.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Burnett, Rockefeller - Hand Funeral Home, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook. The Reverend Paul R. Gingrich will officiate. Interment will be in St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 - 7-9 PM at the funeral home. The VFW will hold services at 7:30 PM.
