Donald had two brothers: Dwight Miller Sheets (1920 - 1977) and Warren J. Sheets (1924 - 1999) and one sister: Rose Mary Sheets (1933 - 2009). Donald Sheets married Helen Louise Betzer (1918 - 2010) in 1940 and they had one son. A veteran of World War II, Donald enlisted in the United States Army on February 23rd, 1944. Donald was a lifelong resident of the state of Indiana and died in Hamilton County, Indiana at the age of 78. He is buried in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Indianapolis, Hamilton County, Indiana.
