Donald Johnson, 74, of Cloquet and Sun City West, AZ, passed away Friday, March 13, 2009 in Sun City West, AZ. He was born in Cloquet in 1934, the son of Harry and May Johnson. Donald married Patricia Weckert on September 14, 1953 in Cloquet. Don served in the US Air Force. He worked in customer sales for Northwest Paper and Potlatch, retiring in 1997 after more than 40 years of employment. He loved spending time with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. Don enjoyed wildlife, trap shooting, hunting, fishing and spending time with his pets and at the family cabin. Don was an avid golfer and since 1999, served as a volunteer marshal for many PGA tournaments held in Arizona. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sun City West, Peoria Masonic Lodge #31 in Peoria, AZ and Ducks Unlimited. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and May, a sister, Delores Polo and his “best friend”, Deke. Donald is survived by his wife, Pat of Cloquet; two daughters, Lynn (Craig) Pykkonen of Esko and Michelle (Dan) Taipale of Elk River, MN; three grandchildren, Joel Pykkonen, Chris and Traci Taipale; a “special daughter”, Carol Pressley of Woodbury, MN and many friends and family. Services were held in Sun City West, AZ on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. A Memorial Mass was held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either American Cancer Society or Ducks Unlimited. !/ObituaryADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
