Donald Robert Linn of Valley City, Medina County, Ohio was born on December 11, 1924 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, and was the father of Donna J. (Linn), Linda Sue Gizzi, Philip J Linn, Katherine McAteer, and William Thomas Linn. Donald Linn died at age 83 years old on April 7, 2008, and was buried at Evergreen Westlake Cemetery in Westlake, Cuyahoga County.

Donald had eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In 1924, in the year that Donald R Linn was born, on January 21st, Vladimir Lenin, a leader of the Russian Revolution and the first leader of the Soviet Union died. He had survived two assassination attempts but had subsequent physical problems, suffering 3 strokes. He was in such great pain, it is said that he asked Stalin to poison him. The circumstances of his death are still disputed. He did oppose Stalin as the next leader - nonetheless, Stalin won a power struggle and ruled as a Soviet dictator until his death in 1953.

At the 11th Academy Awards in February 1939, Walt Disney won an Academy Honorary Award - a full-size Oscar statuette and seven miniature ones - for Snow White.
