Dori J (Stout) Garrett-Slayton of Woodridge, Du Page County, IL was born on August 5, 1947 in Chicago, Cook County to Frank E Stout Jr and Dorothy Stahl Stout. Dori Garrett-Slayton had a sibling Frank E Stout Iii. She married Thomas Garrett, and they had children Jamie D Garrett and Jodi Lynn Garrett Fronczke. She also married Michael D Slayton. She would also marry Thomas Garrett, and they had children Jodi Lynn Garrett Fronczke, Jamie D Garrett, and Logan. She would also marry Charles Jurjevich. Dori Garrett-Slayton died at age 50 years old on June 27, 1998 at Home 2728 Wild Plum, in Woodridge, DuPage County, and was buried circa July 2, 1998 at Bethany Cemetary in Justice, Cook County.

Cancer Victims Celebrate Life 7th Annual Survivors' Day

Dori Garrett-Slayton is a survivor.

Doctors diagnosed the Woodridge woman with inflammatory breast cancer in 1992. And while there have been good days and bad since then, she always can look forward to at least one great one a year: the Cancer Survivor's Day Celebration.

This year's activities are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Central Park, on Benton Avenue west of Washington Street, in Naperville.

"It's so much fun, it's a real positive experience," said Garrett-Slayton. "Some of us are bald, some of us wear hats. We talk about where to get neat hats."

Garrett-Slayton, 49, and her family will be among the estimated 750 people at Sunday's seventh annual celebration, organizers say. …
