Doris Mae (Noerrlinger) Stohlmann was born July 9, 1921 to Walter Earl Noerrlinger and Helen Vivian (McCue) Noerrlinger of Crab Orchard, NE. Doris was called home to our Lord on June 24, 2018 at the age of 96 years, 11 months, and 15 days.
She graduated from Cook High School of Cook, NE and attended Peru State College for three years and later Lincoln School of Commerce. Doris married Sgt Kenneth Warren Kelso on Sept 10, 1941. As her husband served our country, she worked as a Civil Service employee that took her to Wyoming, California, and Texas. Kenneth was killed in an aviation accident in Texas on September 2, 1951. Doris moved back to Nebraska and continued her federal employment at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, NE. Doris met and married Ellsworth Frederick Stohlmann of Louisville, NE, where they made their family home. They were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Louisville on November 20, 1955. They lived and worked the family farm until 1961 when they moved to town. To this marriage was born a son, Dennis Frederick, and two daughters, Sheila Mae and Lori Jayne. Ellsworth also had a son, Danny Ellsworth, and daughter Carolyn Sue from a previous marriage. She was baptized in the Episcopalian Church of Crab Orchard. Later she was confirmed into Immanuel Lutheran Church of Louisville after her marriage to Ellsworth where she was active for most of her life.
Doris later worked at the Louisville Post Office until 1971, at which time she accepted a position at the Home State Bank of Louisville. She worked there until she retired in July, 1986. Doris served several years as Sunday and Bible School teachers and volunteered as Cub Scout Den Mother. She loved to cook, bake, and sew; especially crocheting and quilting. She quilted until nearly age 90 when her eyesight began to fail. In 1994, because of health concerns, she and Ellsworth relocated to Blue Springs, MO to live with their daughter, Sheila. Throughout, Doris was fully committed and loved her family, cherishing visits and conversations with all.
Survivors include her children: Dennis and wife Michele of Blue Springs, MO, Sheila Stohlmann of Blue Springs, MO and Lori and husband Paul Hosford of Albion, NE, and those she loved as her own: Daughter-in Law Shirley Stohlmann of Louisville, NE, and Carolyn and husband Maurice Lange of Hallam, NE. brothers and sisters: Helen Fae (Leonard) Haveman, Ruby Wilson, Robert (Verneel) Noerrlinger, and sister-in-laws Bernice Noerrlinger and Arvilla Noerrlinger. There are 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth, her parents, brothers and sisters; Ruth (Fritz) Doeden, Walter Noerrlinger Jr., Derald Noerrlinger, Eleanor Jean (Gale) Bock, Donald Noerrlinger, Chester (Betty) Noerrlinger, Joan (LeRoy) Haveman, Richard Wilson, brother-in-law, and Ellsworth’s son; Danny.
Funeral Services will be Friday, June 29 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 36712 Church Road, Louisville, NE. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home, 413 Elm Street, Louisville, NE 402-234-3985
