Dorothy Irene Papiernik, 82, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Bowdoinham, Maine. Dorothy was the daughter of Marie Steiner and Rudolph Schoemmell. Dot, as she was known, was born in Philadelphia in 1931, married Joseph Eugene Papiernik, Sr in 1951 and began her family with her daughter, Christine, in 1961 and her son, Joseph, in 1963. Dot and Joe lived in Levittown, PA until they retired and moved to Ocala, Florida in March-1994. Prior to retirement, Dorothy worked at Bamberger's Department store, now known as Macy’s in the shipping and receiving department. Dorothy was an active parishioner of Queen of Peace Church in Ocala, Florida. She and her husband served as Eucharist ministers and took communion to the sick. She was a member of the team that made prayer beads and she attended daily mass for many years. Dot was an unbelievable seamstress. She sewed almost all of her children’s clothes and she even sewed for her granddaughter’s stuffed animals. In addition to sewing, quilting was her next passion-and her talent was superb! Dot enjoyed spending time with her friends in Marion Landing. Whether she was at the clubhouse or heading out to the beach for the day-Dot enjoyed her friends and family. In the last few years, Dot spent time in Maine with her daughter, Chris and her family and with her loving and caring friends, Pam and Ray Bisson. Mom was the BEST mom ever! Dorothy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, George and Bunny Farmer; her daughter, Christine L’Abbé and Chris’s husband, Michael L’Abbé and her son, Joseph Eugene Papiernik Jr. and Joseph’s wife, Brandy Papiernik; and Dot’s grandchildren, Mac L’Abbé, 18, Abby L’Abbé, 16, and JT and Wyatt Papiernik, 5.
